Christmas Dick Bruna

Dick Bruna retells the Christmas story through his clear pictures and gentle, direct language, introducing Mary, Joseph and the arrival of Jesus. The familiar simplicity makes the Nativity approachable for young children, with space to name the people and talk about what happens. A quiet shared read for families wanting to connect the season's celebrations with the Christian story at their centre.

Age suitability and learning: Baby & toddler (0-2), Preschool (3-5). The illustrated retelling suits shared reading with younger children and more detailed discussion as reading develops. Following the story supports vocabulary, recall and sequencing, while its Christian themes offer families opportunities to discuss belief, hope, kindness and the responses of the characters to what happens.
