Circle Under Berry

Colours, shapes and familiar objects combine in changing arrangements, inviting children to look at what is above, below, inside or around something else. Carter Higgins turns simple visual elements into a playful book of relationships, giving each picture several ways to be described. An inventive shared read for children who enjoy noticing patterns and discovering that the same objects can tell a different story when their positions change.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). Clear pictures give preschoolers a focus for shared naming and primary readers details to explore independently. Browsing supports vocabulary, recognition and comparison, while an adult's questions encourage children to describe what they notice and connect new words with familiar experiences.
