Goodbye To Goodbyes

The Bible story of Jesus, Lazarus, Mary and Martha becomes a reassuring exploration of sadness, friendship and the Christian hope beyond death. Rather than brushing aside difficult feelings, the story gives them a place within its message about Jesus. A thoughtful shared read for families wanting to talk about goodbyes and the promise that they will not have the final word.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). The illustrated retelling suits shared reading with younger children and more detailed discussion as reading develops. Following the story supports vocabulary, recall and sequencing, while its Christian themes offer families opportunities to discuss belief, hope, kindness and the responses of the characters to what happens.
