Green Eggs And Ham

Sam-I-Am is determined to persuade a reluctant companion to try green eggs and ham, offering increasingly unlikely places and ways to eat them. Dr Seuss turns refusal into a wonderfully rhythmic adventure, with repeated words that children soon recognise and anticipate. The cheerful conclusion opens a playful conversation about trying something unfamiliar while enjoying the musical pleasure of language.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). Rhythm and repeated language help younger listeners join in, while primary readers can explore the words and pictures more closely. Reading aloud supports listening, sound awareness and expressive speech; following the story encourages recall and talking about what happens next.
