Hairy Macclary Books

Hairy Maclary waits at the vet among a crowd of other animals, until an unexpected disturbance sends the waiting room into uproar. Lynley Dodd's lively language turns the commotion into a rhythmic read-aloud adventure, full of movement and amusing sounds. Children can enjoy predicting the trouble, spotting the different pets and retelling how an ordinary visit became an extraordinary muddle.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). Rhythm and repeated language help younger listeners join in, while primary readers can explore the words and pictures more closely. Reading aloud supports listening, sound awareness and expressive speech; following the story encourages recall and talking about what happens next.
