Max The Brave

Max is a brave little kitten who sets out to chase mice, with one small complication: he does not actually know what a mouse looks like. His search leads to funny questions, unexpected encounters and a challenge that tests his confidence. Ed Vere's bold pictures make the adventure wonderfully expressive, giving young readers the pleasure of recognising clues before the determined hero does.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). The illustrated story suits shared reading with younger children and more independent exploration as reading grows. Following events encourages prediction, sequencing and vocabulary; discussing the characters gives children practice recognising feelings and considering other perspectives.
