Pesky Pets Parties Tom Gates

Tom Gates faces another round of school, family and friendship complications, with pets and parties adding fresh opportunities for things to go wrong. His drawings and comic commentary give ordinary events an entertainingly personal twist. Liz Pichon's illustrated diary format makes the story approachable for developing readers, combining recognisable situations with humour and a narrator whose hopes rarely match the way his day actually unfolds.

Age suitability and learning: Primary (6-8), Older children (9-12). The illustrations and conversational voice offer developing readers a welcoming route into a longer book, while older children can enjoy the humour and character details. Following the diary supports reading stamina, inference and understanding of perspective, with familiar situations prompting conversation about friendships and choices.
