Pick A Pine Tree

Choosing a Christmas tree is only the beginning of a joyful family tradition. Bringing it home, hanging decorations and gathering together turn an ordinary pine into the centre of a celebration. Patricia Toht's rhythmic story and Jarvis's lively pictures capture the anticipation and shared activity of the season, giving children plenty of familiar details to recognise and festive moments to talk about.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). Rhythm and repeated language help younger listeners join in, while primary readers can explore the words and pictures more closely. Reading aloud supports listening, sound awareness and expressive speech; following the story encourages recall and talking about what happens next.
