Poems Of London

Explore London through a collection of poems that capture different impressions of the city. Reading becomes a way to notice its places, people and atmosphere through language rather than a conventional guidebook. A rewarding browse for readers who enjoy expressive writing, with individual poems offering opportunities to compare perspectives, read aloud and think about how a familiar or unfamiliar place can look different through someone else's words.

Age suitability and learning: Primary (6-8), Older children (9-12), Teens & adults (13+). The variety of language gives the selected age groups material to enjoy aloud and explore through discussion. Reading supports vocabulary, attention to rhythm and expressive speech; interpreting images and ideas encourages personal responses, comparison and an appreciation of how words create atmosphere.
