Rosie's Walk

Rosie the hen sets off on an ordinary walk around the farm, apparently unaware that a fox is following her. While the words calmly describe her route, the pictures reveal a succession of comic disasters for her pursuer. This beautifully economical story lets children enjoy knowing more than Rosie does, with plenty to spot, predict and retell as the fox's plans go wrong.

Age suitability and learning: Baby & toddler (0-2), Preschool (3-5). The illustrated story suits shared reading with younger children and more independent exploration as reading grows. Following events encourages prediction, sequencing and vocabulary; discussing the characters gives children practice recognising feelings and considering other perspectives.
