The Dinosaur Next Door

Liz suspects that her neighbour Mr Wilson has an extraordinary secret: his long neck and fondness for leaves make him look remarkably like a dinosaur. When scientists take him away, she wants to help him return to the life he has chosen. David Litchfield's warm picture book turns an unlikely neighbour into a story about acceptance, friendship and the courage to let someone be themselves.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). The illustrated story suits shared reading with younger children and more independent exploration as reading grows. Following events encourages prediction, sequencing and vocabulary; discussing the characters gives children practice recognising feelings and considering other perspectives.
