The Girl Who Stole An Elephant By Nizrana Farook

Chaya steals from the rich to help those in need, but taking the Queen's jewels brings a level of danger she did not expect. An escape involving an elephant carries her and her friends into a fast-moving adventure through a fictional Sri Lankan landscape. Nizrana Farook combines daring action with questions of fairness, loyalty and whether good intentions are enough to justify a risky choice.

Age suitability and learning: Older children (9-12). The longer narrative suits children ready to sustain attention across a developing story, whether reading independently or sharing it aloud. Following characters and events supports comprehension, vocabulary and reading stamina; discussing motives, settings and choices encourages inference, empathy and imaginative thinking.
