The God Contest

The Bible's account of Elijah and the prophets of Baal becomes a dramatic story about who can truly answer and act. The contest brings questions of trust and worship into a visible challenge, giving young listeners events they can follow and discuss. This Christian picture book offers an accessible introduction to the narrative and its message about God, while inviting children to ask questions about belief.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). The illustrated retelling suits shared reading with younger children and more detailed discussion as reading develops. Following the story supports vocabulary, recall and sequencing, while its Christian themes offer families opportunities to discuss belief, hope, kindness and the responses of the characters to what happens.
