The Rock From The Sky

Turtle likes standing in a particular spot, but a rock falling from the sky suggests it may not be the wisest place to stay. Rabbit's arrival and further strange events turn a simple disagreement into an increasingly unexpected adventure. Jon Klassen's understated humour and expressive pictures make this a wonderfully peculiar read, inviting children to notice what the characters miss and think about luck, friendship and the limits of certainty.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). The illustrated story suits shared reading with younger children and more independent exploration as reading grows. Following events encourages prediction, sequencing and vocabulary; discussing the characters gives children practice recognising feelings and considering other perspectives.
