The Smeds And The Smoos Hardback

The red Smeds and blue Smoos are brought up to keep their distance, but Janet and Bill refuse to let old prejudices decide their future. When the young couple disappears, their families must travel together and begin to see things differently. Julia Donaldson's space adventure combines cheerful rhyme with a generous message about friendship, acceptance and the possibilities that open when people move beyond familiar divisions.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). Rhythm and repeated language help younger listeners join in, while primary readers can explore the words and pictures more closely. Reading aloud supports listening, sound awareness and expressive speech; following the story encourages recall and talking about what happens next.
