There's A Bear On My Chair By Ross Collins

A little mouse finds a large bear sitting on his chair, and getting him to move proves an increasingly frustrating challenge. Ross Collins's rhyming story builds its humour from the contrast between the mouse's urgent complaints and the bear's complete ease. With expressive pictures and a clever reversal, it gives children plenty to laugh at while exploring space, sharing and different perspectives.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). Rhythm and repeated language help younger listeners join in, while primary readers can explore the words and pictures more closely. Reading aloud supports listening, sound awareness and expressive speech; following the story encourages recall and talking about what happens next.
