This Is A Dog (Hardback) Ross Collins

A dog takes over what was supposed to be a first book of animals, finding ways to appear where other creatures ought to be. Ross Collins turns a straightforward picture-book format into a mischievous comic adventure, inviting readers to notice the disruption and enjoy the dog's determination. A playful read for children who like expressive pictures, unexpected behaviour and the feeling that a character is breaking the rules.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). The illustrated story suits shared reading with younger children and more independent exploration as reading grows. Following events encourages prediction, sequencing and vocabulary; discussing the characters gives children practice recognising feelings and considering other perspectives.
