Tom Gates A Tiny Bit Lucky

Tom Gates tries to work out whether luck is finally on his side as school, friendships and family surprises keep interrupting his plans. His doodles and comic observations turn ordinary events into a lively illustrated diary. A welcoming read for children who enjoy recognisable situations and a humorous narrator, with plenty to notice in the difference between what Tom hopes will happen and what actually follows.

Age suitability and learning: Primary (6-8), Older children (9-12). The illustrations and conversational voice offer developing readers a welcoming route into a longer book, while older children can enjoy the humour and character details. Following the diary supports reading stamina, inference and understanding of perspective, with familiar situations prompting conversation about friendships and choices.
