Tom Gates Spectacular School Trip (Really) Liz Pichon

Tom Gates is hoping to join a spectacular school trip, but his record of getting into trouble may stand in the way. Everyday school life becomes a new source of plans, worries and comic misunderstandings in Liz Pichon's illustrated diary. Doodles and an approachable voice give the story energy, inviting readers to recognise familiar experiences while enjoying the inventive ways Tom tries to manage them.

Age suitability and learning: Primary (6-8), Older children (9-12). The illustrations and conversational voice offer developing readers a welcoming route into a longer book, while older children can enjoy the humour and character details. Following the diary supports reading stamina, inference and understanding of perspective, with familiar situations prompting conversation about friendships and choices.
