Usborne Jack Snd The Beanstalk

Jack trades his cow for beans and is astonished when they grow into a beanstalk reaching into the clouds. Climbing it brings him face to face with a giant and a series of risky choices. This illustrated retelling offers a lively introduction to the familiar fairy tale, inviting children to predict what will happen and discuss whether a daring decision is always a wise one.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). The longer narrative suits children ready to sustain attention across a developing story, whether reading independently or sharing it aloud. Following characters and events supports comprehension, vocabulary and reading stamina; discussing motives, settings and choices encourages inference, empathy and imaginative thinking.
