Wonky Donkey

Meet a donkey with an increasingly unlikely collection of characteristics, each new detail adding another layer to the joke. The cumulative rhyme builds into an exuberant tongue-twister that is fun to hear, repeat and attempt aloud together. Its gleefully silly animal portrait suits children who enjoy word play, memorable sounds and the anticipation of a familiar line becoming even more outrageous.

Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). Rhythm and repeated language help younger listeners join in, while primary readers can explore the words and pictures more closely. Reading aloud supports listening, sound awareness and expressive speech; following the story encourages recall and talking about what happens next.
